Dr. Purity Muthima is an Association of Commonwealth Universities’ Fellow in Education. She is a researcher, mentor and a trainer from the Department of Educational Management, Policy and Curriculum Studies, School of Education and lifelong learning, Kenyatta University, Kenya. Dr Muthimas specializes in Education Economics, Policy and Planning. Her scholarly work focuses on youth in TVET and STEM, skilling, mentorship, training and youth economic empowerment. Purity has conducted several researches. Among them, she has led a 5year impact evaluation gender study funded by Bill and Melinda Foundation on youths and unemployment. Dr Muthima is also undertaking collaborative action research with the University of Saskatchewan, Canada funded by Global Innovation Fund. Besides, she largely trained the youth on entrepreneurship via the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion programs both at the university and in the counties.
 
As an educationist, Dr Muthima has widely participated in the development of the new Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya and evaluated learning materials. She is affiliated to several professional bodies among them the Women Educationist Researchers of Kenya (WERK). Currently she is conducting a study in Kenya that aims at, establishing a Mentorship Resource Centre to Improve Employment Opportunities through Enhancing Safety and Transferable Skills among Women Students in Higher Education in Kenya”, a collaborative initiative between Kenyatta University, Kenya and the University of Sussex., UK.The study is funded by the British Council. She is leading the project in Kenya.
